Stereotypic sex roles penetrate scientific literature

Stereotypic sex roles penetrate scientific literature | I, Science.

Saw this blog post on how stereotypes about gender roles in society may have influenced language used in the sexual conflict literature.

I guess I’m not convinced it’s all about stereotypes, but it does make me wonder if this might be one reason why sexual conflict research has historically focused on male actions and female reactions (besides the fact that reverse is much harder to study).

Do you think the language trend is due to social stereotypes, or does it simply reflect the types of experiments that have been/can be done?
